Last year I really only had one entry for this day. In the meantime I did some research and even have options for this day 🙂
But let’s start with the historical events for today. One of my most favourite ever: on December 15, 1939 the movie “Gone with the wind” celebrates its premiere in Atlanta as the most expensive movie ever til that time. The movie got 10 Oscars and until today it is the most commercial successful movie of all times!
And one of the worst ever!!! The totally annoying “Last Christmas” from Wham! is published by EPIC Records on December 15, 1984. Please people, stop putting this song on the air!
And now meet one of my options for December 15 on my family tree.
We meet my 4th cousin twice removed. Paul August Johann SCHULT was born in Pinnow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany on December 15, 1924.
He is the so far only known child of the cottager Karl August Ernst Hans SCHULT from Pinnow and his wife Elli Auguste Elise FRAHM, a farmer’s daughter from Boienhagen, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany.
But the poor boy died just 6 days later on December 21, 1924 – of cramps as it is stated in his death records.
He got laid to rest on christmas’ eve, December 24, 1924 on the church cemetary of Diedrichshagen, Mecklenburg-Schwerin – his mother’s parish.
