Happy Birthday Delaware!!
On December 7, 1787 Delaware becomes the first state to ratify the United States Constitution.
And a big an moving day in German-Polish history. On December 7, 1970 the Treaty of Warsaw was signed by the German Chancellor Willy Brandt and his polish counterpart, the Prime Minister Józef Cyrankiewicz at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, accepting the Oder-Neiße-line as existing German-Polish border. It is the basis of the normalization for the relationship between Germany and Poland following WWII.
On my family tree we meet my 3rd great grand aunt Sophia Catharina WARNKE who was born on December 7, 1835 in Kastahn, Grandduchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. She was the seventh of ten children of my 4th great grandparents Gottlieb Heinrich Christian WARNKE, a farmer in Kastahn and his wife Catharina Dorothea née QUALMANN.
She received her baptism on December 9, 1835 in Diedrichshagen, the main village of the parish. At the same church she got confirmed into the lutheran religion on March 24, 1850.
Unfortunately, she died very young, working as a housekeeper in her home village. At the age of 25 she suffered a hemoptysis.
She died on November 19, 1861 in Kastahn and got laid to rest on November 25, 1861 on the church cemetary of Diedrichshagen.
