January 15 – Hans Joachim Friedrich KOOP

Elizabeth I. is crowned in Westminster Abbey on January 15, 1559 as Queen of England and Ireland. Under her reign, England becomes one of the most powerful empires worldwide.

And the first car rental is founded in Paris on January 15, 1896.

Let me introduce you to Hans Joachim Friedrich KOOP, the father-in-law of my 2nd great grand uncle.

Hans was born Januar 15, 1850 in Upahl, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany as a cottager’s son to Hans Carl Christian KOOP and his wife Maria Elisabeth Elsabe Sophia SUHRBIER.

The 1867 census of Upahl shows him living with his parents, working as a bricklayer apprentice.

November 5, 1875 he married Wilhemine Louise Henriette KRUSE, a farmer’s daughter from Upahl.

Between 1880 and 1888 the two had  five children, four daughters and two sons.

4 years after the birth of his youngest son, Hans died on November 4, 1892.
