December 16 – Joachim Karl Johann Hagedorn

Englands first written constitution the “Instrument of Government” gets announced by the English Army Council on December 16, 1653 in London. Oliver Cromwell takes on the title of “Lord Protector of England, Scotland and Ireland“.

The defeated remains of “La Grande Armée” of Napoleon I. cross the river Memel and reach East Prussia. Only 18.000 of 400.000 soldiers survive Napoleons French Invasion of Russia and the retreat.

And on December 16, 1854 my 2nd cousin 4x removed Joachim Karl Johann HAGEDORN is born in Boienhagen, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany as oldest of 6 children from the farmer Christian Karl Heinrich HAGEDORN and Anna Katharina Margarethe FRAHM.

On July 24, 1896 he married Wilhelmine Maria Dorothea WARNKE in Diedrichshagen, in the same parish.

The 1900 census of the Grandduchy Mecklenburg-Schwerin shows him living in Boienhagen:

And also according to the 1919 census he lived with his family in Boienhagen.

You can see him, his wife, two sons and a daughter. With the family lived two servants stated in the lower section of the census.

In total the couple had five children: four sons and a daughter born between 1897 and 1905. The poor girl! 😉

Joachim died on October 29, 1927 in Boienhagen and got laid to rest on November 2, 1927 on the church cemetary of Diedrichshagen.
